Accurate antenna measurements are essential for validating radiated performance and ensuring reliable system operation. Having a clear overview of antenna measurement methodologies and their standardized practices helps ensure consistent results and improve measurement confidence.
Part 2 is now available! You can now stream the complete recorded tutorial. In this final part Lars Jacob Foged, VP R&D at MVG, dives deeper into modern antenna measurement techniques in accordance with IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society standards.
The talk reviews both Near-Field (NF) and Far-Field (FF) measurement methods as outlined in IEEE Std 1720 and IEEE Std 149, with brief references to IEEE Std 1502 for related RCS measurement practices. It includes both direct and indirect far-field techniques such as Compact Antenna Test Ranges (CATR) and Plane Wave Generators (PWG), as well as near-field scanning and transformation approaches.
What You Will Learn:
✅Measurement configuration and range selection
✅Calibration procedures and uncertainty evaluation
✅Traceability, and data processing techniques required to achieve repeatable and reliable results.
