This overview paper, included in the convened session “Fast, low-invasive visualization of EM-Very-Near Field distributions around wireless communication/sensing devices: from anechoic chamber to microscope”, revises the reconstruction techniques used in antenna design and antenna measurements. Among them, the two classical approaches are presented: holographic techniques and equivalent currents, showing later some applications and examples. These techniques are very powerful tools for being able to afford the design of very large antennas and for the reduction of uncertainty in some antenna measurement problems.
